Surface preparation

Joints must be clean, dry and free from loose particles and joint depths should appear uniform.

Mixing and application

Usually, grouting can be made 48 hours after completion of tile fixing. Mixing is carried out using 0.17 - 0.19 litres of clean, cold water per kg powder.
Dosing of water should be done carefully as strength and resistance can be reduced if too much water is added.
Pour water into a clean container and sprinkle the powder in while stirring vigorously until a smooth/plastic and lump-free consistency is obtained.
Allow the mixture to rest for a couple of minutes before use.
Before applying the grout, wipe the tiles with a moist sponge.

For the best result, apply Alfix Cerafill 18 resistant with a rubber-backed epoxy squeegee. Spread the grout while working diagonally across the joints, forcing it into them. Be sure to fill the joints completely.
When the grout begins to set after approx. 15 - 30 minutes, slurry off the area using a well wrung-out sponge frequently rinsed in clean water. The joints must remain filled.
First, wipe off the tiles diagonally until the joints appear even and filled. Finally, clean the tiles with the sponge.

The joints must be filled and match the surface and uses of the tiles.

Usually, finished joints should not be washed out to a depth exceeding 1 mm.
Joints for tiles with rounded edges can be adapted to these.
Joints should neither be overfilled nor cover parts of the tiles.

Avoid acid washing if possible.
If grout film has to be removed from the surface, pre-water the joints before acid washing.
To ensure complete hardening and strength development, it is important to keep the joints moist for the first 4-5 days. Rewater, if required.

Note!
Coloured grouts involve a potential risk of staining to some types of tiles – stains which can be difficult to remove. To ensure that tile and grout are compatible, test a small area.
Switch off any underfloor heating for fourteen days.
Note that high temperatures shorten and low temperatures prolong the pot life.
Protect the joints against draught and from premature drying out.
Avoid any significant changes in temperature or humidity during the hardening process.
Variations in drying conditions as well as heavy use of water for cleaning may affect the cement and cause visible deviations in joint colour.
When used in pools, it is important that water quality is known. This product should not be used in pools with lime aggressive water.

Precautions

IRRITANT.
MAL code (Denmark): 00-4 (1993).

Cleaning

Remove residues of Alfix Cerafill 18 resistant from tiles and tools with water before the mix begins to set.
Cement-based products harden when mixed with water, hence do not pour surplus grout into the drainage system.
