Surface preparation

Joints should be clean, dry, and free from loose particles. Joint depth should appear uniform.
For grouting of ceramic wall tiles, Alfix Cerafill 5 colour or Alfix Cerafill 10 colour should be used.
For joint widths exceeding 15 mm, Alfix Cerafill 20 should be used.
For joints frequently exposed to high pressure cleaners or aggressive chemicals, Alfix C2 Epoxy grout should be used.

Mixing and application
Usually, grouting can be made 24 - 48 hours after completion of fixing. Add 0.20 – 0.24 litres of clean water per kg powder. Pour the water into a clean container and add the powder while stirring thoroughly with mixing drill until a lump-free and smooth grout is obtained. Allow the mixture to rest for a few minutes before use. To facilitate grouting, pre-wet tiled surface with damp sponge.
Apply Alfix Cerafill 15 to the surface with a grout float or soft rubber squeegee while working diagonally over the joints ensuring that they are completely filled. The easy flowing properties facilitate filling of possible voids beneath the tiles. To obtain completely filled joints, 2 applications of grout may therefore be required. Remove excess grout immediately while working.
When the grout begins to set and appear mat, after approx. 40 – 60 minutes, start to slurry off the area using wet sponge frequently rinsed in clean water. Wipe over tiles in broad sweeps until joints appear even and filled. Finally, clean off and finish tiles and joints with only slightly damp sponge. Avoid premature cleaning causing poorly filled joints and grout residues on the tiles.
Any remaining grout film on the surface can be removed after 12 – 24 hours using an acid cleaner, e.g. Alfix Acid Wash. In most cases cleaning with clean water, e.g. added vinegar, will be sufficient to remove grout film or efflorescence.
For further details regarding upright grouting process, see separate guide lines recommending tools and techniques.
NB!
Switch off any underfloor heating
Note that the temperature of mixing water will influence setting time.
Protect the joints from heat, draught, and other climatic conditions which will cause premature drying. To prevent premature drying dampen joints for approx. 24 hours (use e.g. wet sponge) in order to obtain complete hardening.
Do not cover areas just grouted with plastic foil or sheets. Avoid any significant changes in temperature or humidity during hardening process.
Variations in drying conditions as well as heavy use of water when cleaning off may affect the cement and cause visible deviations in joint colour.
Not suitable for dry powder sprinkling upon grouting.
Precautions

IRRITANT

Cleaning

Grout residues on tiles and tools should be removed with water before the mix begins to set. Cement-based products harden when mixed with water, hence do not pour surplus adhesive into the drain system.
