3. Hazards identification
Critical to man and the environment:
to man: Prolonged contact with skin may cause irritation. By mixing with cement based products ammonia and other volatile substances are released, and this may cause discomfort, headache and diarrhoea. See item 7 and 8 for precautions in connection with the handling of the product and item 11 for toxicological information.
to the environment: -
| 4. First-aid measures |
By inhalation: Seek fresh air. Keep the injured under observation. By continuous discomfort seek medical attention.
By skin contact: Remove contaminated clothes. Wash skin with water and soap. Seek medical advice by continuous irritation.
By eye contact: Rinse immediately with water (preferably from eye wash) for at least 15 minutes. Open eyes widely and remove possible contact lenses. By continuous discomfort seek medical advice.
By ingestion: Rinse out mouth thoroughly with water and then drink water or milk. By continuous discomfort seek medical advice.
5. Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: The product is not combustible. Use extinguishing medias in accordance with surrounding fires.
Can be released in a fire: By heating/fire harmful vapours and flue gases may develop. Seek fresh air.
Special protective equipment for fire fighters: Wear fresh-air supplied breathing apparatus.
6. Accidental release measures
Personal precautions: Use the same personal protection as mentioned in item 8.
Environmental precautions: Do not discharge spillage into drains and streams.
Methods for cleaning up: Dam and pick up spillage with sand, cat sand or other absorbing materials and place it in suitable containers.
7. Handling and storage
Handling
Precautions for safe handling: See item 8 for information about personal protection. There must be access to running water and eye wash. Wash hands before breaks, toilet visits and after work.
Storage

8. Exposure controls/
personal protection
Additional information about design of technical systems: Special attention is necessary by work in small rooms with bad or no ventilation. Avoid inhalation of dust by mixing with cement based products, as volatile substances are released. By work indoor or in places with stagnant air there must be effective ventilation (for instance mechanical ventilation, local exhaust ventilation). If this is not possible technically breathing apparatus as stated below has to be worn. There must be easy access to running water and eye wash. Wash hands before breaks, toilet visits and after work.
Components with critical values that require monitoring at the workplace: None.
According to EH40/97 Occupational exposure limits 1997
Personal protection:
Respiratory protection: By mixing with cement based products volatile substances such as ammonia are released. Therefore, a mask with multifilter has to be used which protects against both ammonia, amines and volatile organic substances as well as inhalation of dust.
Hand protection: Wear protective gloves of PVC or neoprene.
Eye protection: Wear tight-fitting eye protection by risk of splashes in eyes.
Skin protection: Wear working clothes.
